“History is supposed to give people a sense of identity, a feeling for how they were, who they are and how far they have come. It should act as a springboard for the future.”
~Dr. Deborah Gray White
My teaching practice rests on the understanding that being a guide on the side rather than a sage on the stage offers a more inclusive and effective learning environment. Learning happens in diverse ways. The recognition that my students learn from me as much as I learn from my students buttresses my pedagogy, inside and outside of the classroom.
